كاتب روائي وشاعر وقاص بريطاني من أصل هندي ومن أعظم رواد الأدب في القرن العشرين, حصل على جائزة نوبل في الأدب عام 1907 وأصبح وقتها أصغر وأول كاتب باللغة الإنجليزية يحصل على ذلك التقدير الأدبي المرموق عالميًا، من أشهر أعماله: كتاب الأدغال، القادة الشجعان، والعديد من القصائد الشعرية البليغة، تميزت أعمال كبلنج بالملحمية والمغامرة والعبقرية الفياضة التي أثرى بها الحياة الأدبية في مطلع القرن كما قيل عنه، حيث تميز الأسلوب بقوة الملاحظة وأصالة الخيال والموهبة الرائعة للرواية.
