A Kenyan storyteller and novelist, one of the most important writers of Swahili literature, he has written nearly forty books. He won many awards, worked as a news editor for the Kenyan K.B.C News Network, and worked as a lecturer at the School of International Relations at Rabara University, and was a prominent advocate for human rights and community issues. In his writing, he dealt with self-experience and political imprisonment, and his sudden death was a great shock to the African literary and political community.
