ولدت كريستي ليفتيري في لندن عام 1980 لأبوين من القبارصة اليونانيين اللذين انتقلا إلى لندن عام 1974. وحصلت على شهادة في اللغة الإنجليزية ودرجة الماجستير في الكتابة الإبداعية من جامعة برونيل. قامت بتدريس اللغة الإنجليزية للطلاب الأجانب ثم أصبحت معلمة في مدرسة ثانوية قبل مغادرتها لمتابعة درجة الدكتوراه والكتابة. وهي تدرس أيضًا لتصبح معالجًا نفسيًا.
