الحارث بن أسد بن عبد الله المحاسبي البصري كنيته أبو عبد الله، سمي المحاسبي لأنه كان يحاسب نفسه. أحد أعلام التصوف في القرن الثالث الهجري، يقول عنه أبو عبد الرحمن السلمي أنه «أستاُذ أكثرِ البغداديين»؛ وهو من أَهل البصرة ولد سنة 170 هـ.
