Hello!

I'm Jen and I'm not entirely sure how to describe myself...

Sometimes I think I'm an environmental campaigner, but other times that label feels like a but much to live up to - like I should be constantly out on the streets waving a placard, or writing powerful letters to the PM.

Sometimes I say I'm a sustainable living advocate or champion, and while I kind of am, I can't help but feel like that 'title' sounds a bit worthy, and hair-shirty.

So what do I do?

All kinds of stuff...

I blog, write, podcast, speak, and live about all things Sustainable(ish).

I run. Sometimes.

I bake. A lot.

I ferry the kids back and forth.

I shout (at the kids). Too much.

I drink tea. Buckets of it.

I was once on TV with Nadiya from Bake Off (#truth).

I spend way too much time on social media.

I live in Wiltshire with my husband, our two kids, a dog, a cat, seven chickens and an 81 year old tortoise.

I'm an ordinary, knackered mum and ex-vet who once dragged the family along with a year buying nothing new, blogged about it and found her voice and her 'thing'.

I'm no different to every other knackered mum out there, starting to feel maybe the first twinges of 'eco-anxiety', wondering what the future holds for her kids, feeling helpless and insignificant.

But we're not helpless, our actions are not insignificant.

If I create change, so can you. It all starts with that first step, and continues one step at a time.

We need to let go of this idea of 'perfection', or the fact that caring about the planet is only for the likes of Swampy (does anyone remember Swampy, or am I showing my age here?).

Sustainable living, or at least Sustainable(ish) living is for all of us - we don't need to do it perfectly, we don't need to go from where we are now to full on vegan, off grid, car-free living. But we DO need to make a start.

I hope the Sustainable(ish) Living Guide inspires you, and that more than anything it helps to nudge you into action. In the words of one of my all time favourite people Greta Thunberg, "we don't need hope, we need action". Remembering your coffee cup or your water bottle, resisting the lure of yet another pair of shoes, choosing the veggie option next time you're out for a meal. It really does matter.

You can come and join in the fun, and help me to justify all the time I spend on social media, by coming and saying hi!
