نبذة عن الكتاب

(Swedish Edition) 1793 بقلم Niklas Natt ... The year is 1793. Gustav III has been dead for more than a year. Sweden is ruled with an iron fist by Baron Gustaf Adolf Reuterholm. No one trusts anyone. Everywhere, paranoia and conspiracies thrive. In October, a mutilated corpse is found in the stinking lake Fatburen on Södermalm in Stockholm. The body lacks both arms and legs and has been disfigured beyond recognition. Despite the fact that Cecil Winge at the Stockholm Police Department is marked for dead with the pneumonia, he undertakes to solve the mystery of the Fatbur body. Soon he finds himself caught in a web of dark secrets and bottomless evil whose threads lead high up to the top of society. Natt och Dag paints a fascinating portrait of Stockholm at the end of the 1700s. From four narrative perspectives, he undresses the late Gustavian era in its painted splendor and grandeur. The make-up and powdered wigs are trampled down into the dirty alleys and a terrifying, but also livelier and more believable, Stockholm comes to light. 1793 is a modernly told historical suspense novel, with one foot in a literary tradition that spares no effort to give an accurate picture of the past, and the other in a far darker line of hard-boiled suspense literature that does not shy away from anything. It is a story that moves from the upper strata of society down to its deepest depths. It is Bellman noir, as an adrenaline-fuelled recent descendant of the Queen's jewel and a fist blow to the idyllic image of the Swedish 18th century.
