Elaine Mixens Wood, a pioneering political theorist and distinguished historian, has a body of work of wide-ranging originality. She worked as a professor of political science at York University in Toronto for many years, and wrote a number of books, the most important of which are “Democracy Against Capitalism” and “The Origins of Capitalism.”
